How to relate to Mon & Dad
Written by Administrator

Ephesians 6:1 & 2 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother; which is the first commandment with a promise.”

The relationship we have with our parents is a two way street. As a young person you are coming to the age where you should take some responsibility in the relationship with your parents.

It says here in Ephesians 6 for children to obey their parents. This is not a first really good idea, it is not the first, hey why don’t you try this. This is the first commandment with a promise.

It doesn't have anything to do with how great or how bad a parent you have. It doesn’t have anything to do with your opinion of how they are raising you. It says for children to obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. That should be the only reason you need. If this is what the Bible tells children to do, then that is the right thing to do, end of story. When you obey your parents you will have a relationship that works. You will have a relationship that is full of honor and full of respect.

You need to learn to make a commitment to your parents that you will always do your best to do what you are told to do.
If you look back at Ephesians 6 where is says, it will be well with you, well this is where success starts. This is where happiness and riches are.

So, always make sure that you are honoring your mom and dad. You will have success, happiness and riches in your life. The opposite is also true, it you don’t obey your parents, then you will have a life of failures, sadness and loss. Nobody wants that. So make sure you obey and honor your parents in all things.
Let’s take a look at Proverbs 10:1, The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

A wise son makes a glad father, a wise daughter makes a mother glad. We all want glad parents. Glad parents aren’t mad parents. If we are going to make glad parents and have our parents on our side, then it is going to take wisdom.
If you want an above average relationship with your parents, you will have to be an above average teenager.
